Back to the year 2014 in October, Airbus Helicopters of Germany delivered his first production of the new developed helicopter H 135 T3 to Aiut Alpin Dolomites. Due to bureaucratic hinders the actual operating started later in March 2015 when the H 135 T3 was officially and finally enrolled for starting rescuing flights. This new rotorcraft replaces our previous EC 135 T2i. The latter operated in high altitude alpine environment and proved to be of reliable support for our mountain rescue parties during 10 long years. The latter rotorcraft has been sold to ÖAMTC Austria, who is a rescue organization as well.
The most significant visible improvement of the new version of H 135 T3 towards the T2i, is the new lateral air intake and the extension of the main rotor blades; these provide a substantial increase of the performance of the helicopter. The full weight allowed for takeoff (MTOW) for H135 T3 reaches now up to 2980 kg.
The general state of the art designed for this machine adds an incredible improvement of the flight performance, particularly for environmental conditions with high temperatures and on high HOGE altitude (Hover out of Ground Effect) category A and OEI (One Engine Inoperative). Actually, the increasing of performance grants huge power reserves which translate in superior safety margins during operating.
In addition, the H135 T3 is equipped with a new hoist-winch qualified for "Human External Cargo" (HEC) up to 2701 kg with a 90 meters of special safety cable, as well as with a double barycentric hoist-hook for "long line fix rope" rescue hoist system.
Ultimately, the all-round efficiency and the operating performance of the helicopter H 135 T3 were at most capably improved.
